A genuinely unusual collaboration from UNDONE, this X Simple Union Limited Edition brings together contemporary mechanical watchmaking and traditional Japanese craftsmanship in a watch that becomes more individual with age.
Produced in a limited edition of just 300 pieces, the watch was created with Simple Union, the Japanese artisan known for working with vintage and antique textiles.
The most compelling detail is immediately visible: its deep blue dial takes inspiration from the traditional California layout but reinterprets it through a distinctly Japanese lens. Arabic numerals share the dial with Japanese characters, while warm luminous accents complement the naturally evolving bronze case.
But perhaps the most collectible element is the strap.
Rather than using a conventional factory strap, this edition pairs a handcrafted Katazome textile strap made from antique Japanese fabric, giving each watch a texture and character that can't be reproduced by ordering another standard strap.
The 40mm CuSn8 bronze case is equally important to the design. Bronze develops a natural patina through exposure and wear, meaning every example gradually takes on its own appearance. It is precisely the kind of material that becomes more personal rather than merely older.
Inside is the proven 24 jewel NH35A automatic movement, chosen for reliability and ease of ownership, with the mechanical movement visible through the exhibition caseback.
This example is offered in mint pre-owned condition and as a complete set, accompanied by its original presentation materials as well as an additional leather strap.
